Teachers & Counselors
 |
Teachers and counselors can help steer students on their career path with lessons learned through internships.
|
Teachers and other educational professionals can leverage the power of classroom learning with the real-world experience that internship programs bring. Studies have shown that students participating in internships perform better in class and are more informed in matching their academic program to fit their career path interests.
Why support internship programs?
Internship students gain a better understanding of the value that classroom learning adds in providing the skills they will need to succeed in the real world. Any teacher who has benefited from teaching intern students knows the contagious enthusiasm with which interns approach coursework and classroom discussions relevant to their chosen career path.
How do I find a guest speaker for my classroom?
A number of opportunities exist for locating guest speakers. The Sonoma School-to-Career Partnership
and Marin School-to-Career Partnership
maintain databases of guest speaker requests and volunteers. For Santa Rosa City Schools, the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce
is working on a guest speaker registry.
